棉花有如下几种分类方法：

There are several classification methods for cotton:

　　按物理形态来分，棉花分为籽棉和皮棉。棉农从棉棵上摘下来的棉花叫籽棉，籽棉经过去籽加工后的棉花叫皮棉，通常意义上的棉花指的是皮棉。

　　According to physical forms, cotton can be divided into seed cotton and lint cotton. The cotton picked by cotton farmers from cotton plants is called seed cotton, and the cotton processed by removing seeds from seed cotton is called lint cotton. Generally, cotton refers to lint cotton.

　　按长度来分，棉花分为长绒棉和细绒棉，细绒棉的长度一般在25-31毫米，长绒棉的长度在33毫米以上。我国棉花主要是细绒棉。

　　According to length, cotton is divided into long staple cotton and fine velvet cotton. The length of fine velvet cotton is generally 25-31 millimeters, and the length of long staple cotton is above 33 millimeters. The main type of cotton in our country is fine velvet cotton.

　　按加工机械来分，棉花分为锯齿棉和皮辊棉。使用锯齿轧花机加工出来的皮棉叫锯齿棉，使用皮辊轧花机加工出来的皮棉叫皮辊棉。目前我国棉花市场上绝大多数棉花为锯齿棉。

　　According to processing machinery, cotton is divided into serrated cotton and roller cotton. The cotton produced by using a sawtooth ginning machine is called sawtooth cotton, and the cotton produced by using a roller ginning machine is called roller cotton. At present, the vast majority of cotton in China's cotton market is sawtooth cotton.

　　按棉花颜色的不同，棉花分为白棉、黄棉、灰棉和彩色棉等。

　　按棉花等级的不同，棉花分为高等级棉和低等级棉。
